I and a friend are holding a two hundred fifty dollar contest. First prize will win 200 dollars, second will win 50 dollars.

Submission list: [link]

Let me first say that if you have any questions, please Note me.

If you have something you want to submit to the contest, please submit it on either (or both) deviantART and FurAffinity and then post a link to it in this journal. Please also put a link to the contest in the "Artist's Comments" field.

You do not have to use Linux/Ubuntu/Unix to be apart of this contest.

The contest ends March 17th

Here is a list of the rules:

In General

This contest is to raise awareness of Furbuntu (Go Here [link] for more info). The other is so that we can have community created wallpapers, icons, and so on for our distribution.

The only true catch behind this contest is that if we choose your entry as one of the few to be in the first version of Furbuntu, then you will have to put it under (at least) a Creative Commons Attribution-No Derivative Works 2.5 License. This will only allow us to copy, distribute and transmit the work, nothing more.

All art work (unless its music, or Icons) must be one of the following: Furry, a Were, A Shapshifter, an Anthropomorphic animal, or a feral animal. If you don't know what furry is, please go here [link]

Multiple entries are allowed! :D

You do not have to do all of these, you can do just one of these if you want.

On the Art

No nudity can be shown. This does not mean that the characters have to wear clothes. This just means that no penises, vaginas, balls, nipples or anything else of mature nature can be shown. Including blood, gore, bodily fluids (except drool/saliva), and instruments that are normally used for sexual acts.

All characters must be of your original design. That means not fan art at all.

All artwork must be wallpaper sized. Just upload it as a 1600 x 1200 and we will resize it for you.

The format of the images must be Jpgs. But if you accidentally upload them as something else, we will convert them for you. So no worry there.

Each wall paper is specifically for an furry species. Such as fox, deer, wolf, bunny, and lots others. Here is a list:

    Fox
    Bird
    Wolf
    Cheetah
    Dragon
    Squirrel
    Dog
    Gryphon
    Cat
    Mouse
    Lion
    Dinosaur
    Tiger
    Rat
    Rabbit
    Ferret
    Raccoon
    Coyote
    Skunk
    Cougar
    Kangaroo
    Lynx
    Leopard
    Hyena
    Bear
    Unicorn
    Horse
    Orca
    Otter
    Deer

This list is based on popular species. If you feel that a popular species has been left out, please note me so we can talk about adding it in.

You can have multiple characters on you wallpaper(s), but they must all be the same species.

The Icons

All icons must be submitted in an SVG format (so the icons can be scaled to any size). A list of the icons needed are:

    Folder Icon (open and closed)
    Computer Icon
    Hard Drive Icon
    Desktop Icon
    [[THE NEXT TWO ARE OPTIONAL]]
    Network Icon
    Trash Bin Icon

Please let all Icons follow the coloring scheme of the Furbuntu Icon:
[link]

If your program can not change the icons into a SVG format or you just don't know how, use this website to convert them: [link]

The Music

If you do not have a FurAffinity account you can email me the music. My email is:

Theyain.Riyu@gmail.com

Any The following formats are allowed: OGG, MP3, and WAV.

The music will be the log on/in sound of Furbuntu. It can be of any genre, vocals are allowed, but no cursing, harsh language or anything that could prevent the sound clip from being shown to a general audience.

Max length allowed is 6 seconds.

As I have said before you can have multiple entries and you do not need to use Linux/Ubuntu/Unix

But that's the rules. What do you guys think? To many? Am I being to restrictive? What do you guys think about the Creative Commons rule?

Remember This is what you could be competing for:
To have one of your very own Wallpapers be one of the very few to be shown in Furbuntu
Or to have either your own set of icons, window border, or music to be apart of the main theme in Furbuntu.
And of course, to win the $200 grand prize!

Sorry to my fellow writers because you can't enter.

Money is handled in two ways. If at all possible it will be transfered Via paypal. If you don't have a Paypal account or you don't want to use it, the only other option is a money order.

One question now that I've looked at it closely. How come you want the same species if it's just multiple characters?

There CAN be multiple characters. There doesn't have to be multiple characters. But its so that each wallpaper is made specifically for said species.

Oh. So, it would look out of place if you had two different species in the same wallpaper.

yes.

Okay. One more question. Could I put my character in or you wouldn't recommend it?

Wouldn't recommend it. I'm gong to add that to the rules. Next time we hold a contest like this, I'm going to make the rules in the format of a FAQ. And the prize will even be BIGGER.

Okay. Basically, I just come up with anything as long as it's not copyrighted.
